¿ Que es FLAC ?
¿Es hoy por hoy el MP3 la única forma para compartir música online? Se trata de un formato que si bien comprime bastante los archivos de audio, en este proceso pierde calidad. La realidad es que existen alternativas para reducir el espacio que ocupan los archivos pero sin perder nada de fidelidad, con el fin de obtener el mismo sonido que en el disco original, y una de ellas es FLAC. El progresivo aumento del ancho de banda y la mayor capacidad de los discos duros podrían jugar a su favor.
FLAC es el acrónimo en inglés de un formato de compresión sin pérdida cuyas siglas corresponden a 'Free Lossless Audio Codec'. La gran baza de este tipo de formatos de compresión respecto al popular MP3 o los extendidos en tiendas que venden descargas de canciones (AAC o WMA) consiste en que logran reducir el tamaño del archivo sin que se pierda absolutamente nada de calidad, como si se tratara de un ZIP o un RAR especialmente ideado para la música.
Es decir, si se emplea FLAC, después se obtienen todos los datos del original, con el mismo sonido del disco genuino. De esta manera, el usuario se olvida de la pérdida de calidad (casi imperceptible para oídos no entrenados, en caso de que se codifique bien) que conllevan el MP3 y sus sucesores.
FLAC (que es software libre) se encuentra cada vez más presente en las redes de intercambio P2P y en los foros especializados en música. Al mismo tiempo, varios grupos musicales han apostado por este formato como una alternativa para distribuir sus trabajos. Por ejemplo Pearl Jam o Metallica, que graba todos sus conciertos para luego venderlos por la web.
En Resumen:
FLAC = Free LOSSLESS audio Codec, como su nombre lo dice, sin pérdidas, el MP3 es un formato que te permite diferentes calidades y también tiene pérdidas, mientras que el FLAC contiene todo tal y como se grabó en el CD original.
